Hardcore Superstar. One would think that a band with a name like this must be pathetic and clearly over-estimating themselves.
But after seeing them live one would know that the name is pretty self-explanatory, because it is what they are.
If you long for a good dose of street metal with a taste straight from the 80fs, Hardcore Superstar is exactly what you need.
The Swedish band visits Finland fairly often and is always warmly welcomed. Same thing happened on the 4th of December night in Hellcity,
when the Swedes took over the sold-out Tavastia club and completely nailed it an hour and a half later.

After quite a long break Placebo became frequent visitors to the capital of Finland. In the year 2009 Finns were lucky to see the band twice, first at
Provinssirock in summer and the 2nd time on the 15th of November at Helsinki Ice Hall.
Before the concert started we were entertained by strange short movies and cartoons shown on the screens. The movies that the band shortlisted and brought
with them on tour, are a part of ShortsTV Live Movie Festival. If nothing else, it was something different compared to the usual boring waiting for the
band to come out.
Finally at some point the lights went off and an image of the sun eclipse was projected on the white curtain on the stage, accompanied by singing that
sounded like a piece in the middle of ‘Speak In Tongues’. All of it gave a feeling that something grand is about to happen and you need to
hold your breath not to miss the moment.
And the moment came once the curtain was taken off.

Sometimes you simply need some other music inbetween all the Metal stuff. Thus we caught PINK, who was rocking Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, turning the whole
venue into a funhouse - in the truest sense of the word:
"I can’t remember how old I was when I heard Pink for the first time, but her daredevil attitude and lyrics appealed to me right away.
Nowadays I wish more little girls could look up to her instead of other numerous drop-forged pop stars. She is like a whirlwind, leaving nothing
and nobody the same after her. When Pink brought her Funhouse show to enliven the depressing Helsinki autumn, I couldn’t miss a chance to finally
see her live."

Thanks go out to Henri Lassander for the pics!
‘Mr. Brian Warner, otherwise known as Marilyn Manson, is an expert when it comes to rocking and shocking.
An absolute genius in his own area, he always knows how to put it right. I’ll let your own fantasy decide what exactly is meant
by ‘it’, because with Marilyn Manson you will have to get dirty all the way down. Then beg for more.
After releasing his latest studio album called ‘The High End of Low’ in May 2009, Manson started his European tour
from the gloomy and dark capital of Finland – Helsinki. The audience in Hartwall Areena was dressed accordingly to the event,
enough for an uninitiated outsider to freak out completely....’

Amazing Porcupine Tree are on tour right now and after having been present at their gig in Helsinki, we really urge you to check
them out, if you have the chance to do so on their current tour! Today we can present you some kind of PT special in form of concert report + pictures + interview.
‘Loud white nights summer is long gone and autumn has climbed up its throne in Helsinki. Along with the morning frost and the beautiful Ruska season
of multi– coloured leaves it also brought two bands to Helsinki Ice Hall: the bands that truly know how to play the tunes of autumn –
Katatonia and Porcupine Tree.’

Apart from that, as some extra goodie so to say, we added an older interview from 2007, that has been available only in German so far. So here‘s the
English version, since some people have constantly been asking for it.
Check it out right HERE!
However, be warned, that Steven Wilson is a very talkative person, so you‘d better grab some nice tea before starting to climb the ‘porcupine tree’!
Metal has different faces. For some it‘s a way to live, for some it‘s a way to die and for some it‘s a way to fulfill their
dreams and ambitions. If you live in Finland where metal screams out on every corner, you have to be really good at what you play to be able to go on.
It‘s the law of the metal ‘jungle’ – either you smash people off their feet with your music or they smash you and you lose it all.
It seems that a Finnish band Profane Omen falls under the first part of this law. Fighting their way through the ‘jungle’ for 10 years now,
still being alive more than ever, the band managed to reach a high level on the local scene. After having 2 official album releases (‘Beaten Into
Submission’ –2006; ‘Inherit The Void’ – 2009) and 1 EP ( ‘Disconnected’ – 2007) up their sleeve plus an endless
list of live shows all around Finland as well as a few abroad, Profane Omen kicked some major ass at Tuska Festival ‘09, making the crowd go
absolutely insane with their ‘groove, hardish trash death metal with a punk attitude’.

Back home after a year-long worldwide tour presenting their latest studio work, Indestructible, American metalheads Disturbed are taking a
break before concentrating on writing songs for their new album. We got together with Dan Donegan and John Moyer on the last show of the tour to have a
look back at the year and sum it up.
Today is the last day of your European leg of the tour and basically it is the end of whole Indestructible tour, which has lasted for nearly a year.
What were the highlights of that year for you?
Dan: The year was very busy – just touring hard. We actually started touring in March 2008, in Kuwait where we performed for the troops.
And then we did a lot of tour to follow up. After that we did a short warm-up run and did a lot of festivals, then – American tours, New Zealand, Canada.
Just a very busy touring schedule. We love performing, we love being on stage and there were many territories we needed to hit. So it took us a year to
complete them all.

There are very few real mastodons of the metal music left in this world: those who stood at the origin of the genre and basically created it.
There are even fewer of them who are still touring the world, bringing this music into masses instead of tanning at their vilas in
California or chilling at a rehab. That’s why when we have heard about such project as Hail! coming to Finland, there was no way we could miss it.
The basic concept of Hail! is playing cover versions of those cult songs which can be seen as milestones in the development
of the heavy music. It is sort of a tribute to what helped each member of the project become who they are. The original idea belongs
to the ex-Megadeth bass player – David Ellefson. He was joined by Sepultura’s guitarist Andreas Kisser, ex-Judas Priest
vocalist Tim‘Ripper ’ Owens and Alice Cooper drummer Jimmy DeGrasso, who was successfully replaced by Stone Sour ’s drummer
Roy Mayorga for the Scandinavian tour. All of the members admit that Roy, who is coming from a different scene, brought a new, heavier
atmosphere to their music as well as new possibilities. It shows that the project is constantly transforming and breathing together with the musicians.

Ruisrock is a reputed name in European rock festival history. Being one of the oldest festivals, next year it is going to
celebrate its 40th birthday and already now this event is expected to shake Finland, even though absolutely nothing has been announced yet.
In summer 2009 Ruisrock‘s lineup by all means outdid all of the other Finnish summer festivals. Having such names up their sleeve as
Slipknot, Faith No More, Children of Bodom, Gogol Bordello, Disturbed, In Flames and many more; you couldn‘t help but put it on
top of the list of your festival preferences.

On September 1, Finnish folk-metal band Finntroll introduced to media representatives several songs from the
long-waited sixth studio album under working title ‘Mot Skoggornas Värld’. Finnish metal trolls
gave journalists a chance to hear songs ‘Solsagan’, ‘Den Frusna Muhnen’, ‘Dråp’
and ‘Under Bergets Rot’. The album was recorded at Helsinki Sonic Pump Studios –
the labour bed for the band’s previous album,‘Ur Jordens Djup’.‘Mot Skoggornas Värld’ will
be mixed, most likely, by the end of November and the album is to be released in December – a perfect Christmas present to all Finntroll fans.

Some of you might've thought, that we've disappeared, due to not updating our page, but of course we haven't. In fact we've been busy with the last festivals
of the season, and photographing tons of bands. So stay tuned for lots of updates coming up soon!
We had a chance to see NIGHTWISH at a memorable gig at Olavinlinna in Savonlinna. So feel free to check out the report and gallery of this gig!
'If there is a perfect location for a certain band to perform, then Nightwish must have found theirs.
It is situated in a city called Savonlinna, in the southeast of Finland. One middle-august weekend the band invaded
the legendary castle Olavinlinna and shook its medieval rocky walls for two days. It was an absolutely unique experience
both for the band and the audience - to be a part of a concert which undoubtedly can be considered as the most epic show
in the history of Finnish metal music.'
